In this blog post we’ll be talking about all the ways that we have been working to keep our young people safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Coronavirus pandemic has been a challenging experience for all of us. Managing changes to ways of working, dealing with the emotional and mental tole of the pandemic, and finding ourselves disconnected from others.
What are Unwin House’s priorities during the pandemic?
- Keeping our young people and our staff safe
- Looking after the mental and physical health of our young people and staff
One of the biggest challenges so far is making sure that throughout the pandemic, our young people are still able to feel at home in our supported living accommodation, while employing extra safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Here are some of the steps we’ve taken to ensure a safe space for everyone:
- Reducing external visitors and ensuring necessary visitors fill out Covid-19 Visitor Forms
- Covid-19 Keywork Sessions for our young people
- Extra training for our staff on Covid safety and
- Ensuring surfaces and equipment are frequently disinfected
Supported living services are home environments, and our staff are aware of the need to ensure that this environment remains as uninterrupted as possible, despite some of the changes that need to be implemented.
We continue to follow government guidance, and ensure our staff and young people are kept up to date with the latest information regarding the pandemic, in a manner that is appropriate for their level of understanding.
