We’re Cyber Essentials Certified!

We're Cyber Essentials Certified!

In November 2021 we passed the Cyber Essentials self-certification and received our first Cyber Essentials Certificate to show that our cyber security meets the government backed standard.

What is Cyber Essentials?

Cyber Essentials is a government backed scheme that helps to protect organisations against the most common cyber-attacks by ensuring organisations have all the technical controls in place to prevent attacks. This can also act as a deterrent against more in-depth unwanted attention from cyber criminals.

What does it cover?

Cyber Essentials specifies the requirements needed under five themes of technical controls:

  1. Firewalls
  2. Secure configuration
  3. User access control
  4. Malware protection
  5. Security update management

This means ensuring that the systems, networks and devices that we use are secure and prevent unwanted access.

In order to receive certification, we had to show that Unwin House meets all the requirements and provide evidence of conformance.

What does that mean for Unwin House?

Through self-assessment we have shown that we have the right technical controls in place to provide protection against the most common cyber-attacks but we won’t stop there!

Continual improvement is one of our four key strategic areas, and we believe that there is always room to improve on the ways we do things.

We aim to continue to promote good cyber practice within our business and are committed to recertifying our Cyber Essentials certificate each year as evidence of this.

We are also in the process of achieving our ISO27001:2017 certification for the Information Security Management System ISO standard and look forward to our first external audit with the British Assessment Bureau in March 2022!
