Unwin House have passed the final stage of the accreditation process and received the Setting the Standard – Supported Living accreditation.
On 11th February 2022, we passed the Commissioning Alliance’s Setting the Standard Accreditation scheme, with Unwin House being added to the list of the Commissioning Alliance’s accredited providers.
What is Setting the Standard?
The Commissioning Alliance works in partnership with local authorities and providers to support young people to access the accommodation and support that they need.
As part of this work the Commissioning Alliance is committed to improving quality and to support this, have introduced the Setting the Standard Accreditation Scheme for semi-independent accommodation and support. The scheme is aimed supported living services which do not currently fall under statutory regulation regimes, as Ofsted regulations will not come into force until 2023
The Accreditation Scheme consists of three stages:
- Desktop evaluation of a providers responses to the scheme questions and checking submitted documents, including Fit & Proper Person Declarations.
- An annual inspection visit which will include checks on recruitment & training practices and an interview with the providers nominated Responsible Individual.
- An annual inspection of the property.
Local Authorities can access information about the individual properties or services that have been accredited in the CarePlace portal via the Commissioning Alliance Dynamic Purchasing Vehicle (DPV) for Semi-Independent Accommodation and Support.
What does this mean for Unwin House?
Unwin House remain committed to our strategic goal of Continual Improvement, ensuring that the services we provide are of the highest quality. While we await the regulations coming through from Ofsted next year, this accreditation is a symbol of our readiness and preparedness in meeting future regulations and continuing to provide the highest standard of living to the young people in our homes.
