We successfully passed our external audit for the ISO 27001 Information Security Management System accreditation, with the UKAS accredited British Assessment Bureau.
On 30th March 2022, Unwin House passed our ISO 27001 Information Security Management System stage 2 audit and became ISO 27001 Accredited. A sign of our ongoing commitment to ensuring a culture of information security across our organisation.
What is ISO 27001?
ISO 27001 is an international standard on how to manage information security through an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The standard sets out requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system.
Clauses 4-10 of the ISO 27001 standard, set out what requirements are necessary for conformance with the standard, these clauses are:
- 4. Organisational context and stakeholder requirements
- 5. Leadership and high-level support for the ISMS policy
- 6. Planning, risk assessment and risk treatment
- 7. Supporting the ISMS
- 8. Operations
- 9. Performance review of the ISMS
- 10. Corrective action
So, what is an Information Security Management System?
While many organisations approach information security in some way, an Information Security Management System provides a framework for placing information security at the centre of the organisation.
ISMS ensure companies examine all security risks, threats and vulnerabilities using a joint up approach that allows companies to establish controls that minimise the risks, and regularly review any emerging or continuing security needs.
