Unwin House Limited (“Unwin House”) collect some information or data about you when you use Unwin House’s services or our corporate website www.unwinhouse.com. Unwin House is the corporate website for Unwin House Limited. This privacy policy defines how we use and store any personal data provided to us.

We collect personal information from individual service users and their parents or guardians, contractors and visitors, and other organisations including Local Authorities. This information can include:

  • Visual data (CCTV, Photographs, ID documents)

Where this information is considered sensitive, we will only process the information with the consent of the service user, unless there is a legal requirement, business need or the information is public record.

We may also keep records of correspondence or visits by an individual or organisation to Unwin House residencies.  

The personal information we collect is only processed in line with our legitimate business needs, including the provision of supported living services for 16-25 year olds, the maintenance of our accounts and records, to manage our staff, improve our services and for marketing and communications purposes.

From the Unwin House website we may collect:

  • Questions, queries and feedback that you send us
  • Your email address if you contact us
  • Your email address, subscription preferences and how you use our newsletter emails (e.g. what links you click on) when you sign up for our newsletter
  • Information on how you use the site, using cookies

The data we collect from Unwin House website users can be viewed by authorised people employed by Unwin House to:

We have procedures and security features in place to keep your data secure once we receive it. Unwin House maintains various security measures including firewalls, anti-virus software, encryption, password protection, building security and regular staff training.

Disclosing Information

We may disclose the personal data of our service users to comply with a legal obligation, to perform our services or where we have the consent of the service user.

Other parties are bound by specific contracts to use the data in line with UK law.

Service user information may be shared with: family members and representatives, Local Authorities, police and courts, health and social care professionals, education and examining bodies.

We will not share website user information unless to comply with a legal obligation.

  • The right to be informed

Service users and web users of Unwin House will be able to see how their information is collected, used and stored earlier in this policy.

  • Right of access

You have the right to access personal information about yourself held by Unwin House. This can be done through a Subject Access Request.

This can be done by emailing info@unwinhouse.com with the subject heading ‘Subject Access Request’, and will be handled by our Data Protection Officer. We respond to Subject Access Requests within 30 days of receipt. No charge is made unless the request is considered excessive. We may ask you to provide information as a security measure to confirm your identity and to ensure personal information is not disclosed unlawfully.

Lawful Processing of Data

Unwin House process data under 6(1) where processing is considered “necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests pursued by the controller or a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests, rights or freedoms of the data subject”.

GDPR also allows for data processing where it “is necessary for the performance of a contract with the data subject or to take steps to enter into a contract”.

  • The right to rectification

This allows you to request any personal information we hold that you believe to be incomplete or inaccurate corrected.

  • The right to erasure

You can ask us to delete or remove personal information when there is no legitimate reason for Unwin House to continue to process it. This right can be exercised in line with the right to object to processing.

  • The right to restrict processing

You have the right to object to or restrict processing where personal information is being processed legitimately however there may be instances where the legitimate grounds for processing override individual interest.

Where we use personal information for marketing purposes you also have the right to object.

  • The right to data portability

This allows you to request that your personal date is transferred to another party in an electronic format, where certain conditions are met.

  • Rights related to automated decision-making

You have the right to not be subject to automated decision-making by Unwin House, relating to your personal information.

  • The right to withdraw consent

You have the right to withdraw consent in circumstances where your consent has been provided for processing your personal information. You can withdraw your consent at any time. We will stop processing your information once we received notification from you that you have withdrawn your consent, unless there is a legal and legitimate basis for continuing to process that information.
